: : This week Im planning on taking out my cats and running a straight pipe to my N1 muffler wich I already have installed accompanied by a K&N cone filter with a homemade CAI. So my question is, am I hurting low, mid,or high end power by making a straight pipe???
: : Bythe way its 2.5inch pipe.
: : Oh ya one last question when i do run a straight pipe and remove my cats can I expect some flames out of my 1991 coupe????
: I take it that's the Apexi single N1 cat-back you have installed? That alone will drop low rpm torque, but compensates for extended hp range in the top end. The more you open up exhaust the more low end torque you lose, but is compensated for up in the top as you will scream up there. And with no cats you should expect some flame when shifting at high rpm. If you really want flame then purposely mess with your anit-burn off system like unscrewing the dashpot so the throttle snaps back quickly so your getting extra fuel unburned to blow flame out your rear (muffler I mean)! Talk about burned rice! Go scare them rice-boys :)
