Should i leave the air pump on in my 91 n/a coupe??????

Since here where i live in Florida they dont have any ,ore inspections im thinking of possibly removing the cats and the air pump. Question is will my 91 n/a work fine without the airpump and cats??? Also ive heard that n/a RX-7s sjoot out a ball of fire how could i do this without hurting my engine.
