As you can guess, the snorkel intake design isn't the most free-flowing design known to man. Helping the engine and turbo breathe with an air box replacement filter will not only decrease turbo spool up time, it greatly helps the high rpm powerband. It's only drawback is the increase in the intake noise at WOT. It won't effect daily drivability.

Notes: The K&N Filtercharger replaces the factory
filter, not the air box itself. The Filter Cone would replace the actual air box which
gives the most performance gains. I personally recommend the K&N Filters because they
are washable. I own a HKS SuperPowerFlow and its oil based foam filter is not washable (or
so HKS claims). Many people do clean the HKS filters however.
If you don't have the money to spend on a full air box replacement,
simply buy a K&N Filtercharger or any factory air filter replacement that flows
reasonably well. It's not recommended that you remove the joint between the snorkel and
air box. This simply pulls hot air off the radiator hose and reduces the amount of cool
air supplied by the snorkel.
