About TeamFC3S

How it Started

In 1995, a small group of RX-7 Turbo II owners wanting to communicate with other owners with similar interests in performance related subjects created their own mailing list. With the help of Chris Foley, a mailing list began and TeamFC3S was officially born. The original group numbered less than 10 but has grown rapidly since it's introduction. Shane Callaghan was kind enough to give us the wonderful logo you see above.  TeamFC3S web site was originally started as a Turbo II Performance Page, but in time grew to accommodate all models of the second generation RX7.

How can I get a catalog?

Here's the funny part, we aren't a company. There are members of the list that do run performance related businesses, but the list and this page aren't commercial venues.  We are trying to let you know what parts are out there, which one's work, and which one's don't. We are considering opening the page up to allow companies to make their price list available to members of the TeamFC3S mailing list, but no definite plans have been made.

What are common topics of discussion?

Common threads are not usually about how to wax one's car or who's car is faster. It's usually dealing with a performance topic from simple to complex and of course maintenance questions. Most performance lists dislike questions about how to fix non-performance problems but we are more concerned with the overall enjoyment of your Turbo II. The conversation is also always friendly. Unlike other RX-7 lists, no flames are allowed. To date, we've had no problems with anyone on the list.

What does FC3S mean?

The FC3 designation we use is the Japanese chassis name for our RX-7 (also found in the VIN on your car (i.e. JM1FC33...)).  The club was originally known as Team FC3's, for the designation, but later adopted the title, TeamFC3S. TeamFC3S
The 1987-1988 models were known as 'GT-R' models, the 1989-1991 models we call 'GT-X'. There was a GT-Limited models but we try not to add confusion to the subject. Just remember, if you see 'FC3S GT-R', it translates into 1987-88 RX-7 Turbo II. We've given the non-turbo names as well. I've never been able to find any sign of a Non-Turbo in my Japanese catalogs so we had to make them up. The GT is exchanged with NA for Normally Aspirated.  So,a 1987 RX-7 GXL would be called FC3S NA-R. As always, use whichever name you feel comfortable with. As a side note, the 3rd Gen. RX-7 is known as a FD3S.
